Franklin USB Dictionary and Thesaurus
With MoniPocket eBook Reader.
 I had great expectations for this product. I am a terrible speller, a worse grammarian, and always need to find a different word to say something without repeating myself. I read so many books that I often fail to complete my articles in a timely manor. A USB thumb drive filled with software that would improve my skills seemed a great idea.
Preloaded with:
- 256 MB Total Memory
- Dictionary with 300,000 definitions
- Thesaurus with 500,000 synonyms & antonyms
- Phonetic spell correction allows you to enter a word the way it sounds, and your ictionary automatically provides alternatives for misspelled words - type in "nolige" and see "knowledge."
- Grammar Guide offers instant access to essential information on grammar rules and usage.
- Confusables® function alerts you when one word might be confused with another (their vs. there vs. they're) by providing spellings and meanings.
- eBooks and eNews Manager
The Franklin USB Dictionary, and Thesaurus, and eBook package is a disappointment on most of the above. The dictionary does work well. It even allows me to misspell words, which I do frequently, and then gives me some choices that usually include the correctly spelled version.
My problem with the Dictionary, Thesaurus, and Grammar portion of the software is that while they always worked, the dictionary word list is the only part that stayed on screen long enough to read it. When I clicked the word and then went to the Thesaurus or Grammar button the screen stayed up for less than 2 seconds. I am not that fast a reader. The USB drive having only 256 MB of space is very limiting for a storage drive in today’s market.
The MoniPocket eBook reader seems to work fine but the selection of free books is limited and the new for purchase books list was not as robust as it could be. Franklin has many fine products. This is not among their best.
