Infuse 4G Samsung Smartphone for AT&T
If you can handle a slightly longer phone with a large clear screen this one is a good bet to make you happy. I have tested the Infuse for about 5 weeks. The 4.5 inch screen jumped out at me as clear, bright and sharp. You may have tried an AMOLED screen on other phones but this is a much improved version. Check the screen out at your local AT&T store before committing. The Infuse 4G is an Android phone running the Android 2.2 operating system.
All the print is large enough to read without glasses for most of us. The majority of email accounts can be setup simply by entering your email address and password in the Add Account area. I am currently running 4 different email addresses connected to three service providers with no problems. About 40 apps are now on screens with plenty of room for more. There are a total of 7 screens available so many more functions can be added.
Have I mentioned the Infuse is thin? At 8.99 mm (0.353937008 inches) it is one of the thinnest SmartPhones I have tested. It makes many Smartphones look like they need the Atkins diet. I slide it into my pocket with room to spare. The Samsung Infuse is also a decent entertainment phone with the ability to use Samsung Media Hub and U-verse Live TV. I have tested several movie previews on the Infuse Video Player app (The Kung Fu Bear one was very funny) as well as a homemade video taken when we were doing a snorkeling boat trip. The view is very sharp and clear although the boat motor sound did not match the real one. If you use Facebook to see how friends and children are living these days you will be glad to know the Infuse also does a good job on it and other Social media programs by providing several widgets to get you going. A basic headset is also included. The ability to connect this phone with an HDMI connection using the USB charging slot and a dongle that comes with the phone is a plus for those who prefer to view photos and such on a large screen.
When working with the Samsung Infuse I was also testing a Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1. The Infuse could be considered a very small tablet as it has many tablet functions without the bulk. Consolidation of functions is a direction that continues in most electronic products. TV manufacturer Visio is now coming out with a tablet that runs you home entertainment room as well as most other tablet functions.
Even though 4G is attached to the Infuse name you need to be sure that 4G is available in the areas where you will be using the phone. It works quite well in non 4G areas.
The Infuse 4G has the usual collection of functions and a few more interesting ones. The 8 megapixel camera is a very good upgrade from many phones.

The large screen is perfect for games, surfing the web, and watching videos. It does an ok job with eBooks but does not beat a Kindle or, for that matter, a decent sized Tablet. The Infuse I tested has 16 GB of internal memory as well as a 2GB MicroSD card so storage space is not an issue.
If your contract is ending and you plan to stay with AT&T be sure to check out the Samsung Infuse 4G. It may be the phone you need for the next two years. Cost is $$199.99 with a two year contract. Monthly fees vary depending on your needs and use.
