LG Solar Bluetooth Car Kit HFB-500 Handsfree and headset free as well
I am not a fan of those who drive around with one hand on the wheel and the other hand holding their phone to their ear. I also feel uncomfortable with a Bluetooth jewel flashing while stuck in one ear and hate riding around with a Bluetooth headset on both ears. I also am not a total Greenie. However, if I can get a handsfree phone unit for my car that is simple to install, setup, and use while also using solar energy should I complain? LG provided a possible answer at CES. The LG Solar Bluetooth Car Kit HFB-500.
Before going further you might want to check the current list of phones that are compatible with the HFB-500. Click here.
The LG Solar Bluetooth is a lightweight item with a solar panel on one side and Phone Button and mic/speaker on the other. There is also a plug for the included car charger unit. WHAT? Yes the Car Charger plugs into the power outlet (formerly know as the Cigarette Lighter) in your car. This is the quick way to charge the HFB-500. Plug it in while you drive and, after two hours, you will have a fully charged solar Bluetooth car kit ready for 960 minutes of talk time. This is the best way to get started. Unplug the Charger unit and put it in one of your storage areas in the car. Once fully charged the solar panel should help you have a completely charged unit most of the time. Two hours of full sun exposure will give you one hour of talk time. If you sit in your garage to use your phone at night you can expect no solar help.
Pairing is about as easy as it can get. I paired my two year old Samsung SGH-A707 (AT&T) with the HB-500 in less than a minute. The LG HFB-500 is now listed as one of my devices on the A707. When I press the red button on the front of the LG unit it now automatically pairs with the A707 when it is nearby.
Features per LG: Bluetooth 2.0, call/end, volume key, last number redial, voice dialing, multi-connection (up to 2 phones), and easy pairing.
My tests showed good sound and easy connection capability. Although the instructions recommended setting up handsfree using the HB-500 I used the handsfree training on the Samsung SGH-A707 and had no problem with the Car kit understanding commands. I like the ability to move the kit to any vehicle anywhere. The LG Solar Bluetooth Car Kit HB-500 worked well for me. It should do the same for you.
