RoboForm Desktop 7
RoboForm has been around a long time. That is reflected by the Release of Version 7 and its updates. I used it sometime ago but for no reason other than a crashed computer I stopped. I am one of the least organized computer users in the world. When I was offered an opportunity to test RoboForm 7 I thought why not. I installed the free version on the ThinkPad and went to work.
The free version allows you to setup only 10 logins. For most people this in not enough to kept them happy. It is a good idea to try the free version so you can see if you are organized enough to continue using the product. If it is a good fit then spend the dollars for the upgrade to Pro. If the sale is still on you can get the first year for just $9.95. If not it will cost $29.95 for Pro. LINK
Once RoboForm 7 is installed you just have to create the info that will, when complete, make signing into password protected applications very easy. If, when entering passwords and user names, you tend to hit the wrong key, misspell words, type an o instead of a 0 (ZERO) RoboForm is for you. RoboForm not only stores passwords but will keep Credit card numbers, Bank account numbers, easily fills most online forms that need you name, address, phone numbers, etc.
Only you can decide how far you want to go with RoboForm. It seems safe and secure but I am a worrier. The major issue I see is the need to memorize a RoboForm generated key code 8 characters long (you can ask RoboForm to increase the number of characters to 100 or more) some characters will be caps or lowercase and others numerical.
With my memory I can guarantee I would have the password written down in several places and, no doubt, in a word document on the computer.
I do recommend RoboForm to those of you who feel they can and will use it faithfully. The rest of us will just have to muddle through without it.
