Samsung Fascinate For Verizon

webslidefascinatefrontback The Samsung Fascinate for Verizon is an example of Android phones in general and a great substitute for a laptop when on the road. It does most everything and does it well. Setup was easy and access to functions was simple. The Touch Screen is a 4” Super AMOLED display. It is large and gives you plenty of area to view text and other details. The size of the Fascinate at 4.92” high by 2.53” wide by 0.39” deep with a weight of 4.16 oz makes it a bigger phone than I like to carry but it is all worth it in the end. It does fit in a pants pocket. It currently has Android 2.1 Operating System and, like many others, Android 2.2 is on the way soon.

With a 1GHz Processor, 2 GB internal memory, and a 16 GB microSD (32 GB is also supported) card included the Samsung Fascinate phone is well equipped to attack any data or other chore you might need handled. I used this phone as if it was my own for more than a month. After the easy basic setup I added or worked with 3 different E-mail clients, instant messaging, web searches, Navigation, news and other articles, FaceBook postings and reading friends words of wisdom, Weather and storm tracking, Photos stored in the phone as well as on Flickr, Downloading Music as well as Audible.com books, ?????

Yes, I also used the Samsung Fascinate as a phone with no major issues. Voice mail was simple. Syncing contacts from another phone saved me an hour or more of typing in details. IM kept me in touch with family.

APPs1

I am also a little nutty about the free APPs area in the Market. I added Black Jack, a Stupid Fart audio APP that turned off all my friends, a music player, Flicker Free, Audible.com, WeatherBug, Ringtones, The Weather channel, and more that I will not include here.

Adding screens is simple. As a matter of fact I accidentally added 2 screens without any thought what so ever. 7 is the maximum number of screens you can have. You can set any of the 7 to be your home screen. My APP habit has made the need for additional screens a necessity.

The camera is 5 MP with auto-focus and Flash. It does a very good job. When using Anti-shake it is even better. The HD video is 720p that is easily uploaded to YouTube. I found the photos more than adequate. Click HERE to go to my Flickr site for a number of samples.

Connectivity is very broad based and includes Bluetooth, GPS, Outlook Sync, USB, and Wi-fi. I use an USB cable to connect the phone and computer when a want to copy or move photos, files, or music. It will take me a while to adapt but I will.

Swipe: A way for people like me who have problems with small keyboards to add a word by touching the first letter and sliding the finger over all the letters in the word. I use Swipe but am still not always happy with the results.

The HTML Web Browser
Tired of those messages that tell you that your phone does not have an HTML browser? The Samsung Fascinate has one and it really does the job. I bookmarked all my favorite places and made them easy to get to. I hate typing in web addresses time and time again. Being able to open a second browser window is also a plus.

The Samsung Fascinate for Verizon is a very good smartphone. The great thing about the Fascinate is that it is part of the Galaxy Series of Samsung phones. At this point I know of 5. If you like the Fascinate but use another wireless service provider you may be able to get a very similar phone from them if they are also providing one of the Galaxy phones. Here is the list. Captivate – AT&T, Fascinate – Verizon, Vibrant – T-Mobile, Epic 4G – Sprint, Mesmerize – U.S. Celluar.
