System Mechanic 10.7 from IOIO

I live by the basic rule “If it works don’t fix it.” I will let stuff collect on my Desktop or Notebook until the load slows the computer down to a turtle like crawl. Then I will delete a few things and continue on without a plan or a hope to every getting near the work speed I had when I purchased it. System Mechanic has given me the courage to really do what is needed to attain that goal. Since Clean Out Your Computer Day was on February 13th I thought my experience would help others to jump in and do it right. I decided to clean a 3 or 4 year old laptop (running Win XP) that, I assure you, has had not cleaning at all during that period of time. Everything of value on it was backed up to an external hard drive as a safeguard.
Below is a short list of their included apps. More details on the many tools that come with System Mechanic are available on their website. CLICK HERE.
Basic info provided by System Mechanic Runs on 64/32-bit versions of Windows 7, Windows Vista, and XP. Repairs registry Accelerates startup Recovers memory leaks Boosts internet speed Defragments drives Stops CPU-hogging items Over 50 powerful tune-up tools
NOTE: You will need Internet access for some of the fixes.
Installing the software is a no-brainer. Once installed you can dive in if you are familiar with the options or you can study a video of some of the options that are provided on a splash screen. I chose to move past the opening screen and do a System Analysis. There are two options: Quick (1 or 2 Minutes) or Deep (5 to 7 minutes). I chose Deep as I was pretty sure there were a lot if issues in this laptop. It actually took about 11 minutes to complete the analysis.
I was correct! The results told me I needed to Optimize the hard drive. I started the Optimization option and waited. This is where I ran into a small problem. The Icon that let me know Optimization was underway just spun around with no sign of completion. I just let it run overnight with the same result in the morning. Spinning but no progress. The program was locked up. I could open other programs and use them but not close System Mechanic. I did not want to use the deadly on/off button on the laptop as I was in the middle of a major repair. I then contacted System Mechanic Support by phone. They got back to me within 24 hours and walked me through a shutdown of System Mechanic. After that they stayed with me throughout the entire process of repairing the laptop.
There were 105,659 misaligned files and 10,134 Fragmented files. I pressed the Optimize button. It took 35 minutes to realign 98,743 files and defragged 9,341 files. Once complete I restarted the computer and found it was much quicker in startup as well as many other functions. The Work done also gave me an additional 75 GB of Drive storage space.
Since that first group of fixes I have continued to check System Mechanic to find errors. It is simple to check the Problems List on the Dashboard. If any are found I can decide to let System Mechanic fix things automatically or go to an area where I can do it myself. So far I have used the System Mechanic Fix It option without another problem. While working on this article I was able to free up 80.18 MB of system clutter, repair 11 Registry problems, repair hard drive errors, and a few other things. Disk check started on restart after the hard drive fix was complete. Reports are available for most every function.
I am much more comfortable with System Mechanic than I have been with any previous repair software. I have not tried to use all of the 50 possible functions that are available. As my faith grows I will expand my use of System Mechanic. System Mechanic worked for me. It is still checking and finding needed fixes. The list price of $49.95 had been reduced to $29.95 when I wrote this article. I am now a believer and feel the current price deal is a good reason to consider System Mechanic for your computer fixes. Go to the System Mechanic site to see more details.
