iPhone or iPad 2 The Missing Manual The book that should have been in the box

I guess the titles above say it all. I think most of us are baffled by the minimum of help provided in the tiny folder that accompanied our latest electronic purchases. I test many Phones, Tablets, MP3 Players, and other electronics on a daily basis and, most often, need to go online to get more details on how to setup and/or operate them. Some companies are adding on-board videos or other assistance to help you get started. That is fine if you have actually gotten far enough in the startup process that the product will allow you to easily access those helpful answers.
Recently I have been reviewing some books from O’Reilly Media. I have to say they can be long but they are understandable. I opened two mailers recently and it was really Christmas. The first was The Missing Manual for my iPhone and the other gave me everything I need to get going as well as to dig deeper into the capabilities of my new Apple iPad 2 (Thank You Pat)
There is too much information in both books to cover everything in this short review. The iPhone Manual is 528 pages long if you include the index. The iPad 2 manual is 339 pages. These manuals are updated often. The iPad 2 book is version 3 and the iPhone manual is the 5th edition. I lent these books to a neighbor and had to pry them out of his hands after 3 weeks.
There are many people who are working on new Missing Manuals for O’reilly so all of us can get more for our dollars. The iPhone or the iPad Manual retail at $24.99. You may find them on Amazon at a reduced rate. Sure there is more detail than most of us need but finding answers is easy and these books really are a help to me.
