Install and use of Windows 7 RC Build 7100
I am using a loaner hard drive from Lenovo to do all Windows 7 testing. I decided to start with a clean disk so as to avoid any issues coming over from the earlier Beta version. The instructions for that process along with many other helpful hints can be found in Ed Bott’s Windows 7 Setup Secrets article (LINK)

The install was uneventful. Windows 7 RC 7100 has been running for the last four weeks. I installed a number of programs and did a new setup for Media Center and the AverMedia Video Dongle. The progress on software and hardware setup and operation is listed below. This is an on-going effort. The list below will expand as I continue to work with the Lenovo ThinkPad R-400 loaner.

Here are the basic specs for the R-400

Windows 7 RC is very stable. I have been using it for about a month now. I now find it easy to move back and forth from the Dell Desktop running XP to the Lenovo ThinkPad R-400 with Windows 7 RC. I plan on continuing to use Win 7 RC on the ThinkPad for the duration of the loan. At this point I feel very secure and ready to move both systems to the final Windows 7 release when it arrives.

MagicJack Phone service worked for incoming and out going calls after one change.
Internet access using Wi-fi from Condo Pool Worked well

HP Color printer CP1160c – Win 7 found the HP driver on internet, downloaded and installed it. Printer worked with test and color photos.

Driver Issues
